Mr. Lharong arrived in India as a child from Tibet, and was raised and educated at the Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) in Mussoorie and its branch school, Rajpur THF. From Classes 8 to 12, he served in various student leadership roles, including School Captain and House Captain.

In 2014, he graduated from the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class 12) and ranked among the top academic achievers across all Tibetan schools that year and was awarded the prestigious Gaden Phodrang Student Merit Award by the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).

In 2019, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (BA. LL.B) degree with a specialization in law from Karnataka State Law University, followed by a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in 2020.

Mr. Lharong launched the “Democracy and Debate” initiative to promote democratic awareness through education within the Tibetan community. For over six years, has been conducting extensive public opinion collection on democracy and policy, producing research reports, case studies, discussions, debates, and interviews. He has also taught the Constitution of India at the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education.

He has served as a member of the Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group (V-TAG) and took on the role of coordinator for South India. He invited the Sikyong (President) of the Central Tibetan Administration to the University of Mysore, the oldest university in Karnataka state, marking the first such visit, and organized an educational conference that gathered numerous international students.

He also served as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Shenphen Charitable Trust and as the Director of the Tibetan Hostel in Mysore. He organized introductory debates and panel discussions for candidates during the Tibetan general elections for Sikyong and Members of Parliament.

He was selected to participate in the CTA’s Five-Fifty Youth Forum and was appointed by the Central Tibetan Administration as one of the five youth ambassadors under the age of 35. He was also the inaugural President of the Executive Board of the All India Tibetan Students’ Association.

While pursuing higher education, assumed leadership responsibilities in the Mysore Tibetan Students’ Association and the Southern Tibetan Lawyers’ Association. In 2025, he worked as the South India correspondent for Voice of Tibet (Norway-based Tibetan radio station).

He participated in various international youth conferences, notably in Europe. He has given speeches, conducted workshops, and provided training at key conventions including the “Future of Tibet” conference, Global Vision, Youth Research Seminars, and the International Tibetan College Students’ Conference.

He is currently serving as a Member of the 18^th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Domey province.
