Dharamshala: On 28 June 2026, Parliamentarians Choedak Gyatso and Gonpo Dhondup welcomed His Holiness the Dalai Lama upon his arrival in Ladakh. Later in the day, they met with members of the public at the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement.
As part of the official visitation program of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Parliamentarians Choedak Gyatso and Gonpo Dhondup have been on an official visit to the Ladakh region since 22 June 2026.
On the morning of 28 June 2026, the two visiting parliamentarians received and welcomed His Holiness the Dalai Lama upon his arrival in Ladakh.
In the afternoon, during a public gathering at the Sonamling Tibetan Settlement in Ladakh, the parliamentarians delivered speeches and responded to questions raised by members of the public. The local community also presented traditional cultural song and dance performances to welcome the visiting parliamentarians.
The parliamentarians were accompanied by Pema Sangpo, Local Justice Commissioner; Dhundup Tsering, Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly; Tashi Dhondup, Chief Representative Officer (CRO) of Ladakh; and Lobsang Nyandrak, Vice-Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly.
