Parliamentarians Dawa Tsering and Dawa Tsering Bari Visit Bengalore, Auroville, Chennai

Dharamshala: As part of the official program of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Parliamentarians Dawa Tsering and Dawa Tsering Bari are undertaking an official visit to South India from 5–13 August 2026.

On 6 August, upon their arrival in Bengalore, the parliamentarians were received by Tenzin Tsepel, Office Secretary of the Chief Representative Office of South Zone. On the same day, they visited the Chief Representative Office and the Tibetan Youth Hostel in Bengalore.

On 7 August, the two parliamentarians visited the Pavilion of Tibetan Culture in Auroville, where they were warmly welcomed by Kelsang Dolma, the Pavilion’s coordinator. This was followed by a dinner meeting with the Pavilion’s founder, Claude Arpi. A Tibetologist and author, Arpi has brought a brick from Gyantse, Tibet, which was used in the foundation of the Pavilion.

The parliamentarians also visited the handicraft centre at the Pavilion. Later that evening, they departed for Chennai, where they were warmly received by Dr Tenzin Tseten and staff of the Men-Tsee-Khang branch there. During their visit, the parliamentarians toured the Men-Tsee-Khang and delivered talks, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

On 9 August, the parliamentarians arrived in Mysore, where they were received by Tenzin Norzin, Office Secretary. Upon their arrival at the Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement, they were warmly welcomed by local dignitaries and staff of the Dikyi Larsoe Settlement. Following the reception and an obeisance visit to the Phodrang, Office Secretary Tenzin introduced the two parliamentarians to the gathering.

In the coming days, the two parliamentarians will visit various offices, centres, and institutions in the Dikyi Larsoe Settlement in Bylakuppe as part of their official program.
