Dharamshala: On the morning of 13 August 2026, Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile members Tenpa Yarphel and Gyaltsen Choekye Gagya, accompanied by Gangtok Tibetan Settlement Officer Jinpa Phuntsok, attended the sixth weekly prayer service for the late Rangzen Lobga, a patriotic Tibetan who sacrificed his life through self-immolation for the cause of Tibet.

The prayer service was organised by the Regional Dokham Chushi Gangdrug at Sera Jey Monastery in Gangtok. The program featured prayers marking the sixth week since Rangzen Lobga’s passing, scholarly talks and speeches reflecting on his testament regarding the restoration of Tibet’s independence, and appeals for Tibetans to redouble their efforts to preserve and study the Tibetan language and culture. The program included a Lama Choepa prayer offering dedicated to the late Rangzen Lobga.

In the afternoon, the parliamentarians paid official visits to Chorten Monastery, the seat of Kyabje Dodrupchen Rinpoche of the Nyingma tradition; the relic stupa (Kudung Chorten); the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology Library; and the Gangtok Tibetan Settlement Office.
