
Dharamshala: On August 19, 2026, Parliamentarians Tenpa Yarphel and Gyaltsen Choekye Gagya commenced their official visit to Kalimpong.
Accompanied by the Secretary and Sponsorship Secretary of the Ravangla Tibetan Settlement Office, the parliamentarians arrived at Melli, a border town between Sikkim and West Bengal. They were received by Tseten, the Kalimpong Tibetan Settlement Officer, and the Vice Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly before proceeding to Kalimpong.
Upon their arrival in the afternoon, representatives from the Local Settlement Office, Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, Regional Tibetan Youth Congress, Regional Tibetan Women’s Association, U-Tsang Regional Association, Chushi Gangdrug Regional Chapter, Domey Regional Association, and the principal of Sambhota Tibetan School welcomed the delegates with a traditional reception and tea.
Later in the afternoon, the parliamentarians inspected the Local Settlement Office and Men-Tsee-Khang. They also visited the Kalimpong Yulokoe Elder Home, Tharpa Choeling Monastery, its library and exhibition hall, and Diwakar Academy.
