Dharamshala: Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang met with Georg Peter Gerd Enzweiler, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy in India, accompanied by Julia Indira Eugenie Enzweiler; Stefan Schott, Head of FNF India; and Nupur Hasija, Head of Programs, FNF India, this evening, 24 September 2026, at the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.

During the meeting, the Speaker provided a brief overview of the composition and functioning of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, including the reservation of seats for women’s representation in the Parliament. The discussion also covered the composition and functioning of the Standing Committee of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.

The visiting delegation was briefed on key initiatives of the Parliament, including its Tibet advocacy and outreach programs, as well as the organization of the World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet (WPCT). They were also apprised of the critical situation inside Tibet, including policies of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) aimed at the assimilation of Tibetan identity through Sinicization, including through measures such as the so-called “Ethnic Unity and Progress Law.”

The visiting guests were further briefed on the biannual sessions of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and the agenda of the ongoing session. The discussion concluded with an acknowledgement of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s (FNF) valuable assistance and contribution towards strengthening and fostering democratic values in exile.

The visiting delegation also observed the ongoing parliamentary session, during which the House formally welcomed them.
