Dharamshala: Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang met with a delegation from the Buddhist Society, London, led by its President, Dr Desmond Biddulph CBE, at the Speaker’s Office on 6 October 2026.

During the meeting, the Speaker spoke about the risks posed to Tibet’s religion, language, culture, and national identity by the law referred to as the “Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity,” which was implemented by the Chinese Communist government on 1 July 2026.

She also spoke about the self-immolation carried out by Tibetan patriot and activist Rangzen Lobga on 2 July in front of the United Nations headquarters. She further highlighted the recent flooding along the Nepal–Tibet border, during which the Chinese government reportedly withheld information and did not publicly disclose details concerning the situation in the affected Kyirong area.

She provided an overview of the current critical situation inside Tibet and spoke about the Central Tibetan Administration’s policy of the Middle Way Approach.

Following her remarks, she led the delegation on a guided tour of the parliamentary chamber and explained the composition and functioning of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, including its working procedures and the two annual sessions of the Parliament.

The delegation, led by Dr Desmond Biddulph CBE, comprised Darcy Biddulph, Editor of The Middle Way and a Council Member of the Buddhist Society; Arlo Ivan Biddulph, Dr Biddulph’s grandson and a university student; and Wangdue Tsering, Librarian of the Buddhist Society and a former staff member of the Central Tibetan Administration.
