Washington DC : On the second day of his maiden visit to Washington DC, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel had an hour-long live interview with Voice of America Tibetan service in the morning.

In the afternoon of Dec 13, Hon. Speaker along with Representative Ngodup Tsering, Office of Tibet, U.S met with Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL), Chairman of House Foreign Affairs Sub Committee on Asia and Pacific; Congressman Jim McGovern(D-MA), Co-Chairs of Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission and thanked them for their exemplary contribution and support for the cause of Tibet and called for continued support.

All the Congressmen that they had met within the last two days were very sympathetic with the Tibetans and concerned with the high handedness attitude of China towards Tibetans. The leaders expressed their full support and promised to continuously raise the issue of Tibet. Congressman Jim McGovern who is due to speak for Tibet on the floor of the House today said “Washington DC is very polarized but when it comes to issue of Tibet, Democrats and Republicans are on the same page in supporting Tibet.”
