Parliamentarian Pema Chagzoetsang addressing the Thank You America program on 12th February 2019

Washington DC: Parliamentarian Pema Chagzoetsang addressed the Thank You America program on 12th February 2019, as a North and South America Representative to the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and on behalf of the Tibetan American community including Tibetans inside Tibet and worldwide.

She thanked America for its invaluable assistance to the Tibetans for over 50 years in terms of political, economical and social, for standing with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, helping to preserve and promote the Tibetan people’s distinct identity, culture, heritage and tradition.

She spoke about the extraordinary support of America for Tibet having a history of bipartisan support to the cause of the Tibet. She highlighted major honors and tributes; the United States highest civilian Congressional Gold Medal award, honoured to His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, and the Tibetan Policy Act of 2002 and the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act.

She also extended her profound gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his farsighted vision, leadership, and unconditional love for Tibetans.

At this critical time in our Tibetan history, she urged all to continue supporting the Middle Way Approach to resolve the Tibetan issue and Sino-Tibetan dialogue to peacefully resolve the issue of Tibet with China, also put pressure on China to release Tibetan political prisoners and fund programs for the preservation of Tibetan culture & well-being.

In conclusion, she thanked America for its undying support on behalf of all Tibetans.
