Parliamentarians Serta Tsultrim and Dorjee Tseten concludes their Tibetan Settlements’ visit in North India

Dharamshala: As per the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’s Tibetan settlements visitation and assessment program, Parliamentarians Serta Tsultrim and Dorjee Tseten visited various Tibetan settlements and communities of Manali, Kullu, Bhuntar, Pandoh Tashi Ling, Sundarnagar, Mandi, Tso Pema as well as the three settlements of Bir and Tashi Jong. They began their visitation program on 6 June and concluded on 3 July 2019.

On 6 June, Parliamentarians started their visitation program from Tashi Jong Tibetan settlement. As per clause A of Article 1 from the guidelines for the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’s visitation and assessment program, Parliamentarian Serta Tsultrim spoke about political stand of Central Tibetan Administration and His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet, while Parliamentarian Dorjee Tseten spoke about international situation, and status of Tibet and China.

On 19 June, the Parliamentarians addressed people of Bir Tibetan Society and Bir Nangchen Chauntra, Parliamentarian Serta Tsultrim spoke about political stand of Central Tibetan Administration and His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet, while Parliamentarian Dorjee Tseten spoke about international situation, and status of Tibet and China. They answered questions asked by people and listened to their opinions and grievances.

Later they visited Pema Ewam Chogar Gyurme Ling Monastery, Sambhota Tibetan School of Chauntra, and Dzongsar Sheda.

On 20 June, the Parliamentarians addressed the staff and students of TCV Chauntra on the above-mentioned topics and also spoke about importance of education to the students. Similarly, they also addressed the people of lily village, Bir on the political stand of Central Tibetan Administration and His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet, and about international situation, and status of Tibet and China. They answered questions asked by people and listened to their opinions and grievances. They also visited Choekhorling Monastery and Men-Tse-khang.

The Parliamentarians also addressed the people of Bir Dege on the above-mentioned topics, answered questions asked by people, listened to their opinions and grievances and later visited Sherabling on 21 June.

Thereafter, on 22 June the Parliamentarians addressed the people in the hall of Bir Tibetan Society and listened to the opinions and grievances of people. Later on the same day, they held a meeting with the officials and NGO heads at Settlement Office to discuss issues related to settlement. After that they visited Diru Dechen Choling, health care centre, Men-Tse-Khang, and school.

They also visited TCV Suja and addressed on the political stand of Central Tibetan Administration and His Holiness the Dalai Lama to resolve the issue of Tibet; about international situation, and status of Tibet and China; and about importance of education to the staff and students of the school on 24 June. On the same day, they also visited Bummang Jampaling Monastery and old age home of Chauntra.

Following the program, Parliamentarian Dorjee Tseten could not continue the visitation program because of some unavoidable circumstances, so Parliamentarian Serta Tsultrim visited Monasteries and mountain retreats of Tso Pema in the morning and later in the evening, he addressed people of Tso Pema, clarified and answered doubts and questions asked by the people and listened to their grievances on 29 June.

Similarly, he visited and addressed Mandi, Sundarnagar, and Pandoh Tashiling Tibetan Settlement respectively on 30 June. He answered questions asked by people and listened to their opinions and grievances. He also visited Pandoh Dam, where initially Tibetans used to work when they first settled at the settlement.

On 1 July, he visited Tibetan settlements of Youlo Koe and Dope Palrabling to examine area’s condition after last year’s flood. He aslo visited Yeshi Rabgyaling Nunnery, Duk Dechen Choeling, Dhakpo Shedupling, Local Tibetan Assembly’s hall, office of Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement and Settlement Office.

On the next day, he visited 15 Mile, Manali and examined current condition after last year’s flood. He then visited Ngari Monastery, Samten Choeling, Health care centre, Men-Tse-Khang, and Sambhota Tibetan School of the area.

Finally on 3 July, he gave his final talk to the gathering of all the Tibetans residing in Kullu, Manali area in Patlikul vocational training center’s hall. He answered and clarified doubts and questions from the members of settlement.
