Mr. Kalsang Phuntsok Godruk’s family resettled in Shar-Khum, Solukhumbu, Nepal following the upheaval in Tibet. During those difficult years, his parents struggled to provide for and care for their children. Believing that he would have a better future under the care and guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, they entrusted him to His Holiness and sent him to Dharamshala, India, at the age of three.

Through the boundless benevolence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the support of the Central Tibetan Administration (Tibetan Government-in-Exile), Mr. Godruk pursued higher education, earning a Master of Arts in Economics from Panjab University and completing postgraduate studies in Management at Maharshi Dayanand University, Haryana.

From 2001 to 2007, he served for six years as President of the Central Executive Committee of the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC). Throughout his public life, he has remained steadfast in his commitment to the Tibetan freedom movement, dedicating himself to the cause whenever the opportunity arises and placing service to the Tibetan people above personal comfort or ease.

At a time when the spirit of freedom movements continues to gain momentum across the world, and as many nations reassess or reshape their policies toward the Communist Government of China, Mr. Godruk believes it is imperative to confront the challenges facing the Tibetan nation. Deeply mindful of the existential threats to Tibet’s identity, culture, and people, as well as the pressing concerns of Tibetans living in exile, he has dedicated himself to public service. He is currently serving as a Member of the 18^th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, representing North and South America, where he continues to advocate for the rights, freedom, and future of the Tibetan people.
