Ms. Gyaltsen Choekye Gagya was born in Nagchu, Do-Kham in Tibet. She completed her primary, middle, and high school education (as well as higher education) in Tibet. In 2009, she arrived in India and studied at the Sherab Gatsel Ling School. Following that, at the Gaden Choeling Buddhist Institute, she spent about fifteen years studying Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, grammar, Tibetan grammar, poetry, history, English, and computer science. From 2022-2026, she has worked as a teacher at Norbulingka College.

She presented research papers at the 12^th, 13^th, and 14^th Tibetan College Students’ Conferences. In 2024, she presented a research paper at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA) during the “Symposium on the Protection and Development of the Tibetan Language.” In 2025, she delivered a presentation related to the “Nomadic Resettlement Project in Tibet” at the Tibet Policy Institute (TPI). In 2025, during the International Youth Tenshug (Long-Live Offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama), she gave a speech on the critical situation inside Tibet as a representative from Tibet. In 2025, at the 11^th Young Tibetan Research Scholars’ Conference organized by the Tibet Policy Institute, she presented a research paper titled, “Perspectives on the terms Bod, Thubhod, Xizang, and Tibet.”

Currently, Ms. Gagya is serving as a Member of the 18^th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Dotoe province.
