Ms. Tenzin Choezin was born and raised in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India. She completed her schooling at Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) Upper and TCV Gopalpur, and pursued her undergraduate studies in English Literature at Madras Christian College, Chennai, followed by a Master’s degree in English Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She is also an alumna of the “Women’s Leadership for Community Development” programme at the Coady Institute, Canada.

During her college and university years, Ms. Choezin was an active member of the Tibetan Students’ Association of Madras (TSAM) in Chennai and Tibet Forum at Jawaharlal Nehru University. She also completed teaching internships at TCV Upper in 2014 and 2015.

In 2016, Ms. Choezin began her professional career with the Central Tibetan Women’s Association (TWA) as a Project Officer. She later served as Head Consultant at the Tibetan Career Centre (TCC), a unit of the Youth Empowerment Support Section of the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration, and in 2021 became the Executive Director of Active Nonviolence Education Center (ANEC).

Her professional experience spans training, counselling, project and programme management, administration and fundraising, as well as work in youth and women’s empowerment. She has conducted programmes across Tibetan settlements and institutions in India, as well as educational sessions at Tibetan weekend schools in Europe, Australia and Canada.

Ms. Choezin was elected to the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and took her oath of office on 2 February 2022, becoming the youngest member of the 17th Parliament. During her tenure, she travelled to Tibetan settlements and communities in India and participated in parliamentary advocacy and international engagements, including an advocacy visit to Europe, the International Leaders’ Forum in Chicago in 2024, and the 9th World Parliamentary Convention on Tibet in Japan in 2025.

She was re-elected to the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and took her oath of office on 31 May 2026. She continues to serve as a member of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
