Ven. Khenpo Jamphal Tenzin grew up in Minyak, Tibet. In his local monastery, he studied cultural subjects and traditional practices. He spent over a decade receiving empowerments, transmissions, and instructions directly from Choeje Lama. Excelling at the highest level in his studies of Sutra, Tantra, and general cultural sciences, he successfully completed two formal dialectic examinations and advanced to the scriptural for the Kapo. He was awarded the title of Kyorpon by Kyabje Dzogchen Pema Kalsang Rinpoche, and officially bestowed the title of Khenpo thereafter. He was officially appointed the Khenpo (Abbot) of the Dzogchen Monastery in India by Kyabje Dzogchen Rinpoche.

While serving as a professor at the Sri Singha Monastic College in India, he taught the entire nine-year curriculum, established the lower and upper grading systems for the monastic college, and successively served as the General Secretary, Private Secretary, and General Director of the monastery. Furthermore, he served two consecutive terms on the executive committee for the Nyingma Monlam Chenmo in Bodhgaya commemorating the passing of the Choeje Lama and was a member of the Committee for the Nyingma Monlam Chenmo. He has also published several notable books in Tibetan.

He was elected as a Member of Parliament representing the Nyingma School for two consecutive terms (the 16th and 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile). In this role, he consistently demonstrated unwavering responsibility by frequently raising awareness, participating in panel discussions, moving resolutions, and raising questions in parliament to preserve the critically endangered Tibetan language and culture. Ven. Khenpo Jamphal Tenzin is currently a member of the 18^thTibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.
