MR DHONDUP TASHI was born on 14th April 1980 in Labrang, Amdo Province in Tibet. From 1997, he studied Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan lute, and medicine at Labrang Tashi Kyil and also did a correspondent study in history and ancient orthography. He studied western philosophy and contemporary social science at Northwest Minzu University in 2000, during which he took active participation in numerous co-curricular activities of the university.

After coming into exile in 2002, Mr. Tashi continued his studies of English, computers, and others while working as a Tibetan language teacher and as an editor of the school magazine at Tibetan Transit School. He worked as an editor of Dhomey Den-gyab writers club and as a vice president of the Tibetan Journalist Association. Mr. Tashi started working at Tibet Times as a reporter in 2007, he was later promoted to take responsibility of the chief editor at the Tibet Times. He was previously elected to the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and has served as a member of the Standing Committee for three consecutive terms and as a member of the Budget Estimate Committee. Mr. Tashi is currently a member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Dhomey province.
