MR TENZIN PHUNTSOK DORING was born on 26th July 1985. After coming to India in 1994, he was admitted to Tibetan Homes Foundation School in Mussoorie. He completed his Master of Philosophy in political science from Madras Christian College. While studying, he undertook many other responsibilities including school captain in 2007, executive committee member of Madras Tibetan student association, and President of Madras Tibetan student association in 2008 and 2012. He was a member of the organizing committee of the all-India Tibetan student uprising and was the chief coordinator of the 3rd Tibetan College Students Conference in 2009. He has also worked as the General-Secretary & executive committee member of the National Democratic Party of Tibet. In 2013, he organized the first-ever scholar’s talk on Tibet at Madras Christian College and has also imparted Tibet’s issue to Indian and international students studying in different Indian colleges.
He has also worked as an assistant researcher at the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy and as an English researcher at the Tibet Watch. From 2018 to 2020, he has campaigned for Tibet’s issue in Queensland on numerous occasions. Likewise, Tibetans led by Mr. Phuntsok along with Uyghurs, Hongkongers, & Vietnamese have organized many campaigns related to Tibet’s issue. In 2019, he was elected President and executive committee member of the Queensland Tibetan Community. Mr. Phuntsok is currently a member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Australasia and Asia (excluding India, Nepal, and Bhutan).
