MR TENZING JIGME was born on 23rd July 1981 in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, to Father Tashi Dhondup and Mother Phurbu Dolma. He studied till 10th standard at St. Joseph’s School North Point, Darjeeling. In 1999, he moved to the US and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College. He is a recipient of the Dalai Lama Graduate Scholarship (2020-2021) and currently doing his Master’s at the University of Minnesota. 

When he was at Colorado College, he founded a branch of the Students for a Free Tibet (SFT) and was also the director of Colorado Friends of Tibet. In 2006, he was elected the President of the Colorado Tibetan Association. In 2009, he moved to Minnesota and was elected the Vice-President of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress for two years and the President of RTYC for two years. In 2013, he moved to Dharamshala as he was elected President of the Tibetan Youth Congress. Then in 2016, he was re-elected as the President of TYC and served for another three years. Currently, he is a member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from North America.
