MS PEMA TSO was born on 12th March 1986 in Kakhok Dzong, Ngaba, Tibet. She completed her primary education there and continued her higher education at the county school. In 2002, Ms. Tso cleared her entrance examination for Sichuan Province’s Tibetan language school to study Tibetan and Chinese translation. During the course of her education, she topped her class and scored the second position in an essay competition held across the Ngaba region. She was also awarded a three years scholarship by Ven. Kunchok Rinpoche for her impeccable academic performance. She received an excellent student award for her exemplary conduct, knowledge, and hygiene during her college days. In 2005, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in the Tibetan language.

Right after her graduation, she took the responsibility for editing magazines of both private individuals and organizations for Siling Pangen Printing Press. She fled Tibet in December of 2005 and arrived Tibetan reception center in Nepal on 25th February 2006. Thereafter, she studied at Sherab Gatseling School in Dharamsala, India for a few months and then started working as a teacher in Suja School and Drikong Monastery school respectively. In 2009, Ms. Tso worked as a reporter for Tibet Post International and then as an editor of the Shambala Tibetan website. Since 2018, she has been working as an editorial director of Tibet Times. She is a member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Dhomey province, and also an executive member of the Tibetan Journalist Association & Pen Tibetan Writers’ Association.
