Ms. Tsering Yangchen was born on 1st January 1968 and has completed her school education at Bylakupee and Mussoorie Tibetan schools. After graduating with an M.A degree in geography from Mysore University as a Gold Medallist (Bhoo-Gola Shastra Gold Medal), she volunteered at Hunsur Dzongchoe Monastery to serve underprivileged people. In 1996, Ms. Yangchen was recruited as a PGT teacher at Bylakuppe Day School and also received a Norway scholarship through the Department of Education, CTA for her M. Phil. in 1998.

 

Apart from serving at various organizations and participating in numerous campaigns, Ms. Yangchen also served as a researcher for the Environment Desk of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), CTA. As a researcher, she has represented the CTA in countries like South Korea, Thailand, South Africa, Germany, and so forth. Later, she left CTA due to some issues at home but continued her social work by educating parents on child upbringing and on career orientation. She participated in Parent’s Meeting in 2015 organized by CTA and attended the 3rd Tibetan Special Meeting held in 2019. Ms. Yangchen is currently a member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from Utsang province.
