Ven. Geshe Monlam Tharchin was born on 1st November 1968, at Khyungpo Thingchen, Eastern Tibet. After finishing his primary education, he studied scriptures and meditation for several years. In 1992, he came to exile and furthered his studies of Bon texts of sutra, tantra, and mind studies at Pal Shenten Menriling, India. At the same time, he took the responsibility of the chant master of the Menri sangha assembly for six years. In 2002, he was honored with a Geshe degree (Ph.D.) at Menri Monastery. He has also worked as a teacher for the Menri school, and as a member of the regional election commission. He has taken active participation in all the parliamentary sessions. He has been to Tibetan settlements and scattered communities on official visitation programs and on Tibet outreach programs abroad. He has also published numerous articles and has edited many books.

He was earlier elected to the 14th, 15th, and 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and has been a member of the Standing Committee, Public accounts committee, and other parliamentary committees. Currently, he is a member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from the Bon religion.
