Ven. Khenpo Kada Ngedup Sonam was born in Kham Karze on 2nd May 1979. After completing his education, he worked as a teacher at Karze Datangma’s primary school. In 1998, he came to exile in India and continued his studies at Dzongsar Buddhist Institution. In 1999, he participated in the PEN Tibetan association’s conference and became an executive member of the association in 2000. He received degrees of Karam-pa in 2002 and Kachu-pa in 2005. After completing his intensive studies of all eighteen major Buddhist texts, he attained the title of Lopon in 2007 with first division. On 12th March 2007, he was appointed Khenpo (abbot) of the Tharik Shedra Monastery of Nepal, where he served as the Khenpo for four years. He has also served as a master of Buddhist philosophy at T.C.V Gopalpur school for six years and was also the President of the Khampa writer’s association. He has authored 13 published books & 45 unpublished books, and numerous articles.
He was earlier elected to the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and was a member of the Standing Committee, budget estimate committee, and public accounts committee. Currently, he is a member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile from the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism and a member of the Standing Committee.
