Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang Addresses CTA’s Communication Strategy Meeting, Emphasizes Unified Messaging in CTA’s Communication Efforts
Dharamshala: The Central Tibetan Administration’s three-day communication strategy meeting began on November 4, 2024, at the Sagar Centre, LTWA, Dharamshala. The meeting will run from November 4 to 6, 2024.
The opening session featured remarks from Kalon Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) and Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. Notable attendees included Mark Tegenfeldt, USAID’s Director of the General Development Office; Leela Mulukutla, Chief of Party at the National Democratic Institute (NDI); and other distinguished guests.
Members of the Standing Committee of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, including parliamentarians Tenpa Yarphel, Lopon Thupten Gyaltsen, Tsaneytsang Dhondup Tashi, and Tsering Yangchen, along with four staff members from the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat, will participate in this important communication strategy meeting.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Speaker commended the collaboration between the Kashag and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPiE) with UK experts during the Central Tibetan Administration’s communication strategy meeting. This partnership aims to tackle common challenges and bridge the information gap within the CTA.
The Deputy Speaker highlighted the ongoing partnership between TPiE and the National Democratic Institute (NDI), noting various collaborations such as strategy meetings, communication workshops, bilingual introduction videos, town hall meetings, citizen engagement programs, university outreach, and a range of publications.
She discussed practical approaches to counter the challenges posed by China’s disinformation and spyware, which are affecting communities worldwide. Emphasizing the importance of unified messaging, the Deputy Speaker urged for clarity and focus in the CTA’s communication efforts to effectively convey a clearer message to the international community.
In closing, she encouraged participants to actively raise questions and seek clarity to develop a communication strategy that truly represents the Tibetan perspective.
