Dharamshala: A temporary exhibition titled ‘Rivers of the Sky: Glaciers to Valleys’, organized by the Tibet Museum, was inaugurated at Gangchen Kyishong in Dharamshala on 8th November 2024.
Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, as the Chief Guest, officially inaugurated the exhibition, which highlighted the significance of rivers flowing from Tibet and the environmental damage caused by their unchecked exploitation by the Chinese government.
Addressing the media, the Deputy Speaker emphasized the crucial role of the Tibetan Plateau and the rivers flowing from Tibet in the survival of humanity, highlighting their importance as a vital source of freshwater for South Asian countries, including India. She called for scientific research on the Tibetan Plateau and its rivers under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
