Dharamsala : Arranged by the Himalaya Parivar, the Tibet support group in Himachal, Sh. Jagdish Mittal, a senior BJP leader and Vice-Chairman of Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Delhi visited the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat and met with Deputy Speaker of 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok concurring with his 2 days stay in Dharamsala to acquaint more deeply with the Tibetan issue on Aug 21 at 4 in the evening.
Upon meeting the dignitary, Deputy Speaker presented him with the book, ‘Voices of Tibetan lives sacrificed against China’s policy of violent repression’ and briefed him on the urgent situation inside Tibet as he informed him on the Chinese immigration into Tibet via the construction of airways and railways. He also informed him on restrictions imposed on the Tibetans inside Tibet over religious activities. He also apprised him on the Central Tibetan Administration’s budget status and on the various activities undertaken by Tibetans and the supporters of Tibet issues.
He then expressed his gratitude to the people and government of India as well as supporters from all over the world, including the endeavors of His Holiness the Dalia Lama, without which, the stability of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan struggle movement would have been impossible.
Sh. Jagdish Mittal conveyed his pleasure on being well-acquainted with Tibet issue upon his visit here and assured of his and his colleagues support for Tibet’s cause.The dignitary, being former President of Rastriya Kavi Sangam and a poet himself, proposed his subsequent intention to enable engagement between various Indian and Tibetan arts and cultural centers by holding debate and awareness program between the two under his initiation.
The brief meeting then broke off to pay visit to the Tibetan parliamentary hall.
