Dharamsala : Deputy Speaker of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok wrote to the surviving family members of Late Dr. Muthuvel Karunanidhi, a five-time Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the DMK patriarch, who passed away in Kauvery Hospital, Chennai on Tuesday, Aug 07, on behalf of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and Tibetans in and outside Tibet, today.
‘There’s no word that can express how distress your family and DMK party members are in at this moment. Tibetan Parliament-in Exile on behalf of Tibetan in and outside Tibet, we offer our deepest condolence at the sad demise of your beloved father, a stalwart political leader,’ he wrote.
Recounting the past meetings with the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 2004 and his daughter Smt. Kanimozhi in 2016, Deputy Speaker Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok expressed his gratitude to them and their party (DMK) for the guidance and support rendered towards the just cause of Tibet.
He further wrote, ‘Dr. Karunanidhi has greatly contributed in the Indian politics and especially to the unique Language and Culture of the Tamil Nadu state. I hope you and your party will continue to serve and follow his vision in coming future.’
The late Dr. Muthuvel Karunanidhi was 94 years old.
