
Dharamsala : Deputy Speaker Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phunstok and Parliamentarian Mr. Lobsang Choejor attended the 69th Republic Day of India at Police Ground, lower Dharamsala on 26th January, which was organised by the local Indian administration.
Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok greeted the Chief-Guest of the celebratory ceremony, Irrigation and Public Health Minister, Shri Mahender Singh Thakur with the ceremonial Tibetan scarf on behalf of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
In his speech after the flag hoisting ceremony, the Chief Guest congratulated and extolled Dr. Yeshi Dhonden, former physician of Dalai Lama, for his outstanding work and on being awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India.
Thereafter, the Chief Guest Honourable Shri Mahendra Singh Thakur and Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Ven. Achaya Yeshi Phunstok drew winners from the lottery raffle box, organised by Red Cross Society, Kangra, a voluntary humanitarian organisation to protect human life and health based in India.
The celebration concluded on a festive note with vibrant cultural performances by the local Indian schools and institutions.
