April 24, 2026

Dharamshala: As part of the ongoing Year of Compassion celebrations marking the 90th birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile organized a two-day exhibition titled “Democracy: A Gift of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Tibetan People” at the Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV), Chauntra, Himachal Pradesh, from 23–24 April 2026.

The exhibition commenced on 23 April at 9:30 AM in the presence of the school’s Principal, Passang Tsering, and Assistant Headmaster, Tenzin Dhondup, along with teachers, staff, and students. The principal formally inaugurated the event by cutting the ribbon and lighting a butter lamp, marking its official opening.

The exhibition saw enthusiastic participation, with over 400 students from TCV Chauntra in attendance, along with more than 10 students from Sambhota Tibetan School, Chauntra, and over 60 students from Kanishka School. Staff members from the Parliamentary Secretariat guided students and teachers through the key themes of the exhibition, offering valuable insights into the development of Tibetan democracy.

In addition to the exhibition displays, a documentary titled “Democracy: A Gift of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Tibetan People” was screened for the students.

The organizing team from the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat included staff members Tsering Lhamo, Lobsang Tsomo, Choeying Rangdol, and Tenzin Tharchin.

As part of the year-long Year of Compassion initiative, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile has successfully organized fifteen exhibitions at prominent institutions and locations, including the Main Temple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (Tsuglagkhang, Dharamshala), Sambhota Tibetan Shool (Shimla), Gaiety Theatre Art Gallery (Shimla), Himachal Pradesh University (Shimla), Jawaharlal Nehru University (Delhi), St. Stephen’s College (Delhi), Tibetan Youth Hostel (Delhi), Panjab University (Chandigarh), Lovely Professional University (Punjab), Government College (Dharamshala), the College for Higher Tibetan Studies (Dharamshala), Upper Tibetan Children’s Village (Dharamshala), Tibetan Children’s Village (Gopalpur), Tibetan Children’s Village (Suja), and Tibetan Children’s Village (Chauntra).
