April 23, 2026

Dharamshala: As part of the ongoing Year of Compassion celebrations commemorating the 90th birth anniversary of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile organized an insightful two-day exhibition titled “Democracy: A Gift of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Tibetan People” at the Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV), Suja, Himachal Pradesh from 21-22 April 2026.

The exhibition commenced at 9:30 AM in the presence of the school’s Principal, Ngawang Thupten, Headmaster Nyima Tsering, along with teachers, staff, and students. The principal inaugurated the exhibition by cutting the ribbon and lighting the butter lamp, marking its official opening. This was followed by introductory sessions conducted by staff members from the Parliamentary Secretariat, who guided students and teachers through the key themes of the exhibition. A documentary on the evolution of Tibetan democracy, Democracy: A Gift of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Tibetan People, was also screened for students alongside the exhibition displays.

Over 350 students and teachers from TCV Suja visited the exhibition, reflecting enthusiastic participation and keen interest. The event significantly contributed to raising awareness about the lifelong contributions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, while also deepening understanding of the milestones and development of Tibetan democracy.

The organizing team from the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat comprised of staff members Tsering Lhamo, Lobsang Tsomo, and Choeying Rangdol.

As part of the year-long Year of Compassion initiative, the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile has successfully organized fourteen exhibitions at prominent institutions and locations, including the Main Temple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (Tsuglagkhang, Dharamshala), Sambhota Tibetan Shool (Shimla), Gaiety Theatre Art Gallery (Shimla), Himachal Pradesh University (Shimla), Jawaharlal Nehru University (Delhi), St. Stephen’s College (Delhi), Tibetan Youth Hostel (Delhi), Panjab University (Chandigarh), Lovely Professional University (Punjab), Government College (Dharamshala), the College for Higher Tibetan Studies (Dharamshala), Upper Tibetan Children’s Village (Dharamshala), Tibetan Children’s Village (Gopalpur), and Tibetan Children’s Village (Suja).
