Dharamshala: On 3 August 2026, Parliamentarian Gonpo Dhundup, representing the Standing Committee of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, attended the inaugural session of the 20th Working Committee Meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Ngari Chithun Association as a special guest upon invitation. The meeting was held at the auditorium of Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) School in Manali and will continue until 4 August.

The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Kalon Palden Dhundup of the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration. Other dignitaries and attendees included former Himachal Pradesh MLA Shri Ravi Thakur, Ngari Chithun Association President Kunga Thinley, Local Tibetan Assembly Chair Mipham, Tibetan Settlement Officer Tenzin Namgyal, representatives of various local organizations, participants, and members of the Tibetan community.

The proceedings commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a minute of silence in remembrance of the patriotic Tibetan martyrs who sacrificed their lives, bodies, and possessions for the cause of Tibet.

Addressing the gathering, Parliamentarian Gonpo Dhundup conveyed greetings on behalf of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and expressed his hopes and prayers for the successful deliberations of the Working Committee Meeting. He highlighted the critical situation inside Tibet, particularly the implications of China’s recently enacted so-called “Ethnic Unity and Progress Law.” He also paid tribute to the sacrifice of patriotic Tibetan hero Lobga Rangzen and urged Tibetans to remain united and consolidate their collective efforts for the cause of Tibet.

Furthermore, Parliamentarian Gonpo Dhundup emphasised the importance of remembering and acknowledging the contributions of the elder generation who founded the Ngari Chithun Association. Commending the people of Ngari for their longstanding contribution to the Tibetan political struggle, he encouraged the younger generation of Ngari Tibetans to preserve their unity and carry forward their responsibilities in accordance with the guidance and teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the policies and directives of the Central Tibetan Administration.

Concluding his address, Parliamentarian Gonpo Dhundup expressed gratitude to Shri Ravi Thakur for his continued support for the Tibetan people. He also presented tokens of appreciation to former executive members of the Ngari Chithun Association in recognition of their contributions. The ceremony concluded with a group photograph of the dignitaries and participants.
