Dharamshala: Parliamentarian Thupten Gyatso, representing Tibetans in Europe in the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, attended a conference of Tibet support groups and Tibetan associations under the Office of Tibet, London, as a special guest. The conference was held at the Karma Shedrubling Retreat Centre in Oslo, the capital of Norway, from 9 to 11 October 2026.
During the conference, Parliamentarian Thupten Gyatso delivered a speech focusing on how the Tibetan diaspora community should counter the Chinese Communist government’s so-called Regulations on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress, which, he said, ultimately aim to eradicate the Tibetan language, culture, religion, and national identity. He also emphasised the importance of making every effort to use the Tibetan language in daily life to preserve and promote the Tibetan linguistic and cultural heritage.
Representatives from six Tibetan associations under the jurisdiction of the Office of Tibet, London, along with delegates from Tibet support groups across seven countries, participated in the conference.
