Dharamshala: At the invitation of the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota, USA, Parliamentarian Tseten Phuntsok of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, who represents Tibetans in North and South America, attended the Tibetan Democracy Day celebration as the Chief Guest on 2 September 2026.

The ceremony commenced with His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s portrait being escorted to the throne amidst incense offerings and performances by the Gyalshey team. This was followed by the presentation of the ceremonial sacred offerings (Mandal Ten-Sum) by Parliamentarian Tseten Phuntsok. All attendees then stood for the Tibetan National Anthem and the Tibetan Democracy Song.

As the program continued, Parliamentarian Tseten Phuntsok read out the official statement of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. During his first official visit to the region as a Tibetan Parliamentarian, he highlighted the significance of the Middle Way Policy, which has been unanimously adopted by the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. He also urged the public to remain united in their political activism against China’s rigid policies, regardless of their political position on the Middle Way Policy or Tibetan independence.

Furthermore, he emphasized that, in view of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s advancing age, every individual must make a firm commitment in their daily conduct to ensure that their actions do not cause His Holiness disappointment.
