Dharamshala, 10 July 2026: As per the program of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Parliamentarians Choedak Gyatso and Gonpo Dhundup successfully concluded their official visit to Srinagar, Kargil, and the Leh-Jangthang regions of Ladakh, which took place from 22 June to 9 July 2026. The visit included meetings with official dignitaries and public gatherings.
On 9 July, the two parliamentarians met with former Ladakh MP and long-time Tibet supporter Shri Thupstan Chhewang, President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association Shri Tsering Dorjee, President of the Ladakh Youth Association Shri Jigme and his executive members, and the President of the Ladakh Gonpa Association. During the meeting, the MPs expressed their gratitude for their collective support and cooperation with the Chief Representative Office during the reception, birthday celebrations, and entire stay of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Ladakh. They urged continued harmony between the local residents and Tibetan settlers, encouraging ongoing collaboration between the Tibetan and Ladakhi communities, who share the same culture and religion. The leaders assured their full commitment and support.
In the afternoon, the MPs met with the President and executive members of the Tibetan Refugee Market Welfare Association in Leh to understand their grievances. In the evening, they attended the final closing ceremony of an inter-camp football tournament organized by the Sonamling Sports Committee as chief guests. With this, the official visit to Srinagar, Kargil, and the Leh-Jangthang regions of Ladakh successfully concluded.
