Parliamentarians Khenpo Kada Ngedhup Sonam and Juchen Konchok Choedon conclude their visitation program to Guwahati, Shillong, Itanagar, Tenzin Gang, Bomdila, Tawang, and Dirang from 14-28 October 2019
Dharamsala: As per the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile’s Tibetan settlements visitation-assessment program, Parliamentarians Khenpo Kada Ngedhup Sonam and Junchen Konchok Choedon successfully completed their visitation program to Guwahati, Shillong, Itanagar, Tenzin Gang Tibetan Settlement, Bomdila, Mon Tawang and Dirang from 14-28 October 2019.
During the visitation program, a total of 7 public addresses were given to students, monks, and the general public and one meeting with the local dignitaries was held. They spoke on topics including accomplishments of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, critical situation inside Tibet, the status of Tibet issue on the international platform, proceedings of the 8th session of the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, etc.

Parliamentarians began their official program on 17 October by paying a visit to the Gaden Choeling monastery, followed by a visit to Sambota Tibetan School where they witnessed the morning assembly program and the headmaster briefed them about the daily activities carried out in the school. Parliamentarians addressed the students on the importance of education, need of a special bond between teacher and student, and on being true seed of future Tibet. They further inspected the school’s surroundings and classes.
Later on the same day, they visited the offices of Local Tibetan Assembly, Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, Tibetan Settlement Officer, and Men-tse-khang.
The next day, the MPs held an official public meeting with the Tibetans living in Shillong, where Parliamentarians addressed and answered questions asked by the public. The public meeting was followed by a meeting with local dignitaries.

Parliamentarians left for Itanagar from Shillong on 19 October. They addressed a gathering of Tibetans at Naharlagun that is near to Itanagar and answered questions asked by them. They advised the settlement officer to endeavor in resolving any problem faced by the residents with regard to the current political situation. They also advised the people to pay the voluntary contribution (chatrel).
Thereafter, Parliamentarians continued their visitation program in Tenzin Gang Tibetan Settlement from 20-21 October. They visited Gyuto monastery, baby crèche, Tibetan cooperative office, health care clinic, camp no 4, cabbage field, kiwi farm, apple farm, and guinea pepper farm.
They also held a public meeting with the settlement people where they addressed and answered questions asked by the people regarding the voluntary contribution (chatrel).
After learning about the settlement of non-Tibetans at TenGang, Parliamentarians guided the settlement people to sign a proper agreement or written contract to avoid any future conflicts.

They then continued their visitation program to Tibetan scattered communities of Bomdila and Dirang where Parliamentarians addressed and answered questions asked by the public. They advised the Tibetans to follow the regional rules and regulations and at the same time advised settlement officer to endeavor in resolving any problem faced by the residents with regards to the current political situation.
Parliamentarians reached Tawang on 23 October and continued the visitation program there till 26 October. Starting with Palpung Jangchup Chorkor monastery where Kundeling Rinpoche was giving white tara’s long-life initiation. They met with the Kundeling Rinpoche and Khenpo of the monastery to discuss on area’s matters.

They address Tibetans living in Mon Tawang at a gathering of people in the Tibetan community hall of Tawang. People asked questions concerning the voluntary contribution that were answered by the Parliamentarians.
In Tawang they also visited Rigya Samdhenling and met 11th Rigya Rinpoche. They also visited Jamyang Choekhorling Monastery, Ugen Ling (birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama), War Memorial (stupa built in the memory of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in 1962 Sino-Indian war), Lumla Dolma Lhakhang (statue of Jetsun Dolma), and Gontse Gaden Rabgyaling.
The visitation program successfully concluded with a comprehensive inquiry about the conditions of the general public, monasteries, and schools chronicled by the parliamentarians will be forwarded to the related departments of the Central Tibetan Administration through the Standing Committee of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile for effective grievances redress.
