Dharamshala: As part of the official visitation program of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Parliamentarians Tenpa Yarphel and Gyaltsen Choekye Gagya undertook an official visit to three Tibetan communities in North Sikkim.

On 12 August 2026, the two parliamentarians, accompanied by Gangtok Tibetan Settlement Officer Jinpa Phuntsok, visited Tibetans residing in Pagong, Chungthang, and Mushithang in North Sikkim.

Upon their arrival, local Tibetan representatives warmly welcomed the parliamentarians with ceremonial scarves (khataks) and tea.

In their addresses to the local public, the parliamentarians introduced the official visitation program of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. Drawing inspiration from the courage and spirit of patriot martyr Rangzen Lobga, who self-immolated for the Tibetan nation and religion, they emphasized that critical times demand heightened responsibility from all Tibetans to preserve Tibetan religion, culture, and the national struggle.

They particularly underscored the paramount responsibility of Tibetans living in free countries to advance the broader Tibetan cause, with special emphasis on preserving and promoting the Tibetan language.
