Parliamentarians Yeshi Dolma and Geshe Atong Rinchen Gyaltsen Commence Official Visit to Northeast India

Dharamshala: As per the program of the 18th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Parliamentarians Yeshi Dolma and Geshe Atong Rinchen Gyaltsen have commenced their official visit to Northeast India.

On 11 August 2026, the two Parliamentarians departed from Delhi and arrived at Dibrugarh Airport, where they were received by the Tezu Tibetan Settlement Officer and the office driver.

Upon their arrival at Tezu Dhargyeling in the evening, they were warmly welcomed with traditional ceremonial scarves (khatak), tea, and dinner by staff of the Tezu Tibetan Settlement Office, members of the Local Tibetan Assembly, heads of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement (BRDL), representatives of the Health Clinic and Men-Tsee-Khang (Tibetan Medical & Astro. Institute), monastery representatives, the school headmaster, the cooperative secretary, Pemakoe representatives, members of the Regional Tibetan Women’s Association, representatives of the former Special Frontier Force (SFF), the Parent Committee, and local village leaders.

On the morning of 12 August, the Parliamentarians paid respects at the Podrang and visited Lhagong Jangchup Choeling Monastery. They were subsequently welcomed at Sambhota Tibetan School, Tezu, where they addressed teachers and students and toured the school facilities.

In the afternoon, they conducted official visits to the Settlement Office, Local Tibetan Assembly, Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, Cooperative Society, Men-Tsee-Khang, local Health Clinic, village leaders’ office, elderly home, and Villages 1 through 5. They also made pilgrimage visits to Ugyen Choeling Monastery and Tashi Choeling Monastery, followed by a visit to the creche centre.
