Dharamshala: As per the program of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Parliamentarians Youdon Aukatsang and Choepehl Thupten successfully concluded their official periodical visit to the Dhondenling Tibetan Settlement in Kollegal, Karnatak, from January 5 to 6, 2025.
Upon their arrival on January 5, the MPs were warmly welcomed by the Settlement Officer, Vice-Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly (LTA), Secretary of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement (BRDL), President and Secretary of the Tibetan Cooperative Society, Director of the Settlement Hospital, Head of Men-Tse-Khang, representatives of the Regional Tibetan Women’s Association and Sambhota Tibetan School, as well as leaders of the 22 villages within the settlement. Later in the evening, a meeting was convened with the settlement’s planning committee to discuss urgent and necessary projects.
On January 6, the Tibetan lawmakers conducted a public talk for the general public, followed by an engaging Q&A session. Afterward, they paid respects at Dzogchen Monastery and Lama Kheno Monastery. The visit also included inspection tours of various facilities and institutions, such as the settlement’s old age home, hospital, LTA office, BRDL office, Lhamo Association office, Men-Tse-Khang, school, settlement office, Tibetan Cooperative Office, and the site of pit constructed to prevent elephants from entering the settlement.
