On the 6th day of the third session of 16th TPiE, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel informed the ongoing Parliament session on recent self immolation happened on 18th March 2016. Pema Gyaltsen alias Pegyal S/o Mr. Wangyal and Mrs. Youlha, self immolated himself at Nyakrong, Kham Province of Tibet to protest against the Chinese government and their repressive policies. He was 24 years old.

The Parliament then continued the proceedings of approving the proposed budget of the Central Tibetan Administration for the financial year 2017-2018.
