Kamrao : Tibetan Settlement Office along with Gapa Tibetan Welfare Society, Tillordhar, P.O. Kamrao organised Thank you India event on June 3, 2018 on Sunday. The event is part of the yearlong Thank you India 2018 programme initiated by the Central Tibetan Administration to honour the unparalleled support and hospitality extended by the Indian government and its people.
Dr. Rajiv Saizal, Social Justice and Empowerment, Corporate Minister of Government of Himachal Pradesh graced the event as Chief Guest where as Ven. Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Dharamshala joined as Special Guest for Thank you India event.
Other Indian dignitaries who also graced the event were Shri. Baldev Singh Tomar, former MLA of Shillai Constituency, Shri. Rohit Malpani, Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur District, Shri. Parmod Chauhan, DSP, Paonta Sahib, Shri. L.R. Verma, SDM, Poanta Sahib and local Indian Panchayat and Pradhans etc.
Chief Guest, Dr. Rajiv Saizal inaugurated Tibet Museum’s photo exhibition on the occasion. The photo exhibition featured two different themes: India and Tibet – Ancient Ties and Current Bond, Biography of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Journey into Exile. In addition to that, a Sand Mandala, Torma (ritual sacrificial object) and ritual cham dance costume was exhibited by Kyegu Monastery of the Settlement.
Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok greeted Dr. Rajiv Saizal and felicitated with the Thank you India 2018 memento and book on “India and Tibet: Ancient ties and Current bonds”. The same was also felicitated to the other Indian dignitaries by the Representatives of the Settlement.
Mr. Tenzin Chokden, Settlement Officer of Kamrao Gapa Tibetan Settlement in his introductory remarks, expressed deepest gratitude to the Government of India and its people particularly the people of Himachal Pradesh and the district administration of Sirmaur for their unwavering support since the inception of the settlement.
The event was attended by local Indians and Tibetans. Youths of local Tibetan settlement presented various cultural performances including local Pahari dance which was gracefully enjoyed by all the Guests and the audiences.
Mr. Ngawang Lodoe, President of Local Tibetan Assembly gave a word of thanks to the Chief Guests, other dignitaries and the audience.
