French politician Ms. Élisabeth Toutut-Picard

Dharamsala: On Oct 10, Speaker of 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-exile Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel extended his gratitude to Ms. Élisabeth Toutut-Picard, the French politician representing La République En Marche!in the French National Assembly, on behalf of all the Tibetans for her efforts in reconstituting the largest Tibet Study Group in the Lower Chamber of the French parliament.

He also wrote in the letter that ‘the situation inside Tibet is deteriorating and the situation under the Chinese government’s intensive political repression continues to remain grim and alarming.’

Reiterating the gratitude felt by the Tibetan people towards the people and government of France for their support to Tibetan issues, he solicited for the continuous support towards ‘the cause of Tibet to seek mutually beneficial long lasting negotiated settlement of the Tibet issue through the Middle Way Approach.‘

——

The 15th Tibet Study Group at French National Assembly was formally reconstituted on 6 October with 17 parliamentarians from four different parties. The Study Group is led by Madam Élisabeth Toutut-Picard from La Répuliaque en March as President. Although she is a new deputy, she has visited Tibetan communities and held meetings with President of CTA Dr. Lobsang Sangay in January 2018 and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile in November 2017.
