Washington, DC: After successfully concluding his second leg tour in New York City, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile arrives in DC for meeting with the leaders on the hill.
Today, he called on Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY), ranking member of House Foreign Affairs Committee; Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), member of House Committee on Foreign Affairs; Congressman Steve Chabot (R-OH), Chair of Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee on Middle East and South Asia.
He briefed them about present depressing situation in Tibet and called for their support to end political repression and violation of religious freedom in Tibet; destruction of Tibet’s delicate environment, culture and identity; and encourage meaningful dialogue between people’s Republic of China and envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Speaker is being accompanied by Ngodup Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Office of Tibet staff Tsering Tashi to the meetings.
