Dharamsala: The General session for the fiscal year 2017-18 of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile commences from Sept 19 and will adjourn sine die on Sept 28.
The Hall, assembled with Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and its Deputy Speaker, President of the Central Tibetan Administration along with his ministerial colleagues as well as the parliamentarians, sang the Tibetan national anthem after the session commencement announcement by the Speaker Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel.
After the appointment of Acting-Speaker and the ad hoc committee, Parliamentarians Ven Geshe Monalm Tharchin and Mrs. Dolma Tsering presented the motion and unanimous resolution to officially mourn the demise of Kyabje Jetsun Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche, the 103rd Gaden Tripa and 33rd Kyabje Menri Trizin Lungtok Tenpai Nyima, spiritual leader of Bon tradition respectively.
Parliamentarians Ven. Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tsetan and Mr. Gewatsang Ngawang Tharpa presented the motion and unanimous resolution of solidarity with the Tibetan self-immolators, both inside and outside Tibet, who had self-immolated for the cause of Tibet since March 2017 while Parliamentarian Mr. Lobsang Yeshi presented the motion and unanimous resolution to officially mourn for the demise of late Mrs. Zongatsang Tsering Dolma, member of 13th and 14th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
A minute of silence was observed to mourn for the demised.
Thereafter, Parliamentarian Mr. Lobsang Choejor presented the motion and unanimous resolution of solidarity with the Tibetans enduring harrowing atrocities in Tibet and the dire situation of Tibet, which was supported by Parliamentarian Lutsang Gyarik Thar.
The morning session was adjourned after an active debate on the motions and resolutions passed.
The session resumed at 1:30 pm with Ven. Karma Gelek Yutok, Kalon of the Department of Religion, reading out the precis of the annual report of its main ministry office as well as of institutions and monasteries under it. Followed by the review on the detailed annual report of the same by Standing committee Parliamentarian Ven. Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tsetan.
Parliamentarian Ven.LoponThupten Gyaltsen, presented the motion for debate on the same; supported by Parliamentarian Ven. Tenpa Yarphel.
A total of 6 resolutions were passed today. Except for one with leave, the sittings of the sessions were attended by all the Parliamentarians.
