New Delhi : On the fourth day of the Tibet advocacy campaign initiated by the Tibetan Parliament, the Tibetan lawmakers met with the former Defense Minister of India, Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mr. Subhash Chandra, the media mogul and a BJP MP from Haryana besides several other new Indian MPs. During the deliberation, the delegates thanked Mr. Yadav for his unwavering concern and solidarity with the Tibetan Struggle and for continuously raising the issue of Tibet in the Indian Parliament.
The delegates also met with Mr Shanta Kumar and Bhagat Singh Koshyari, senior BJP leaders and chief Conveners of All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet (APIPFT) to discuss about the 5th Conclave of the members of the All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet to be held later this evening.
Earlier, several prominent Indian leaders including Mr. Moti Lal Vora of Indian National Congress, Mr. K.T.S. Tulsi and Vivek K Tankha, Senior Advocates at Supreme Court of India, Colonel Choudhary Sona Ram, a VSM and Mr. Narasimham Thota, a TDP Party leader were also called on and apprise of situation inside Tibet and the ongoing global Tibetan struggle for freedom in exile.
In the four days campaign, the delegates met over 35 Indian MPs and had received major assurance for support and solidarity for the cause for Tibet. The Indian lawmakers also affirm over lobbying for Tibet within their party and to adopt resolutions in support of Tibet in their party meetings. Many assured the delegates of raising the issue of Tibet in the Parliament through Zero hours and General Discussions platforms etc.
Meanwhile the Tibetan delegation attended the inaugural ceremony of the Photo Exhibition in honor of Centenary Birth Anniversary of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, a former Indian Ambassador and a Tibet Supporter from Ladakh at the Indira Gandhi National Memorial Arts and Cultural Center at the invitation of the Kushok Bakula Trust.
The Tibet advocacy campaign by the Tibetan parliamentary delegation will continue till Dec 22.
