Delhi : Concurring with the Indian Parliament’s Monsoon session, a Tibetan Parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok, Parliamentarians Ven. Monlam Tharchin and Mr. Karma Gelek had met over 24 members of Indian legislatures, belonging to different constituencies from July 23 to 25, since the delegation’s departure from Dharamsala to Delhi on July 22.
Among the leaders the Tibetan parliamentarians have met included Indian MPs; Sh. Ram Narain Dudi, BJP Rajasthan; Dr. Chandrapal Singh Yadav, Samajwadi Party (UP); Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, BJP (Bihar); Sh. Mahendra Pandey, Secretary of BJP; Sh. Shamsher Singh Dullo, INC (Punjab); Dr. Kirti Peremjibhai Solanki, BJP (Gujarat); Smt. Mausam Noor, INC (West Bengal); Smt. Riti Pathak, BJP (Madhya Pradesh); Sh. Sushil Kumar Singh, BJP (Bihar); Sh. Satish Chandra Dubey, BJP (Bihar); Sh. Pashupati Nath Singh, BJP (Jharkand); Sh. Sawpan Dasgupta, (Presidential Nominee, Rajya Sabha); Sh. Ravinder Kushwaha, BJP (UP); Sh. Nityanand Rai, BJP (Bihar); Dr. Naipal Singh Ritaiyard, BJP (UP); Sh. Ramen Deka, BJP (Assam); Sh. During the meetings with the respective prominent leaders of Indian legislation, the Tibetan Parliamentary delegation greeted them with the ceremonial white scarves and souvenirs on behalf of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile. They then illuminated them on the critical situation inside Tibet; the religious-cultural and environmental association between Tibet and India and; the threats after Chinese invasion of Tibet as well as on dialogue between Tibet and China.
They also expressed their gratitude to the members of All Party Indian Parliamentarian Forum for Tibet (APIPFT) for their regular appraisal of resolutions passed on Tibet’s issue during their meetings and for their efficacious means of garnering supporters for Tibet as well as for to the government of India and its people for their continuous facilitation.
Those who have met His Holiness the Dalai Lama are well acquainted with Tibet’s issue and renders their wholehearted support for the cause unsolicited. Though many bestow keen attention to the matters concerning Tibet yet there are also many who are unaware of Tibet’s essential issues, for which this advocacy campaign continues to sow many benefits in terms of introducing and raising awareness on Tibet’s issue.
Meetings with the members of India legislatures were possible by the timely appointment sought chiefly by Mr. Tenzin Paljor, India-Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO), who also accompanied the delegation along with Mr. Choenyi Tsering (ITCO) and Ms. Kalsang Youdon (TPiE).
