Gujarat : The four-member Tibetan parliamentary delegation, comprising of Parliamentarins Ms. Youdon Aukatsang, Ms. Yeshi Dolma, Ven. Geshe Lharampa Gowo Lobsang Phende and Mr. Kunchok Yarphel, who had recenly placed the issues of Tibet before a host of leaders in the state of Goa, including its Governor and Speaker, continues their Tibet advocacy campaign in Gujurat.
Sh.Vijay Rupani, Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat received the Tibetan parliamentary delegation on October 9th at the Sachivalaya, Sardar Bhavan in Gandhinagar. After offering traditional scarf and the official Tibetan Parliament’s souvenir, the delegation briefed him on the situation inside Tibet. The delegation also met Sh. Nitinbhai Patel, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The visiting Tibetan delegation called upon the Honorable Governor of Gujarat Sh. Om Prakash Kohli, who gave generous time to the delegation. The Governor stressed on the need to sustain the Tibetan culture and identity and keep it alive among younger Tibetan generation.
Honorable Speaker Sh. Rajendra Trivedi of Gujarat Vidhansabha (Legislative Assembly) not only warmly welcomed and engaged with the delegation but also gave them a tour of the Assembly Hall. The delegation also met with Sh. Bharatsinhji Shankarji Dabhi (Whip of the Ruling Party at the Assembly), Sh. Govind Patel (former Minister for Energy and Environment and MLA Rajkot), Sh. Purnesh Modi (MLA Surat) and presented them with traditional scarves and appeal booklets on behalf of Tibetan parliament in exile.
The delegation visited the Bhartiya Janata Party Office and met with Sh. Jitu Vaghani, President of state BJP Party, Sh. Rutvij Patel, President BJP Youth Wing and other Party executives. The Party President was instrumental in facilitating the meetings with the Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy CM and other dignitaries. They even assigned a staff to coordinate all the meetings and invited the delegation members as ‘Guests’ to the official Navratri festival celebration on the night of October 10th attended by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief minister and many other dignitaries.
The delegation paid a visit to the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee office and met with Sh. Amit Chavda, President and Sh. Himanshu V. Patel, General Secretary and several Spokespersons of the Pradesh Congress. The delegation met with media persons at the office and briefed them on the purpose of the visit.
