Paris: As per the program of 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile to visit and meet the Parliament members, Tibet support groups, think tanks and officials all over the world as well as to garner more support for the cause of Tibet, a Tibetan Parliamentary delegation led by Parliamentarian Tsering Lhamo along with Parliamentarians Geshe Lharampa Gowo Lobsang Phende, Kunga Sotop, and Lobsang Dakpa met Senator Maurice Antiste and Senator Guillaume Arnell of French Senate on 18 November 2019.

Tibetan Parliamentary delegation met Senator Maurice Antiste and Senator Guillaume Arnell and expressed their gratitude to all French Parliamentarians who have been supporting Tibet’s issue for a long time. At the same time, the delegates apprised the Senators of the current critical situation inside Tibet and discussed ways to support Tibetan issue in the future. The Senators in response expressed their deep reverence to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and assured their full support for Tibetans and Tibet’s cause.

On 17 November, Parliamentarians held a public meeting with Tibetans living in Paris, wherein, Parliamentarian Geshe Lharampa Gowo Lobsang Phende spoke on the accomplishments of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama and Parliamentarian Kunga Sotop spoke on the composition and functioning of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. While Parliamentarian Tsering Lhamo spoke on the current critical situation inside Tibet and Parliamentarian Lobsang Dakpa spoke on the status of Tibetan issue on the international platform. They answered questions asked by the public and advised Tibetans living there to stay united and take initiative on keeping the community united. The Parliamentarians also advised on spreading awareness on the situation of Tibet and garner support for the cause of Tibet in their own capacities.

Later on the same day, Parliamentarians met members of the Tibet Support Group and thanked them for their undying support, to which member of the Tibet Support Group assured to continue supporting and working for Tibet. Parliamentarians updated them about the ongoing destruction of Tibet’s environment, religion, and culture under the repressive policies of China. Likewise, informed on the ongoing human rights violations, lack of religious freedom, migration of the Han population to Tibet, etc.

The Parliamentary delegation also visited Tibetan refugees camped in the jungle to understand their situation and answered questions asked by them on 18 November. They also met some officials of the French government later in the evening.
