Mundgod: A five-day thorough workshop organized by Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile on Strengthening of Democracy at Grass root level to the Members of Doeguling Local Tibetan Assembly from 14 June to 18 June 2019 successfully concludes today.
First two days of the workshop focused on teaching Parliamentary procedures to more than 50 registered participants from the settlement and the third day of workshop was dedicated for preparation of mock session on the last two days of the workshop.
Participants were divided into groups to prepare starred questions, solidarity resolution, legislative amendments along with preparation of documents for the mock session.
The last two days of workshop was enacted like a real Local Assembly Session, starting with serving of Tibetan Ceremonial sweet rice and butter tea followed by singing of Tibetan National Anthem.
The mock session proceeded with Chairman’s commencement announcement and commencement speech.
During the mock session, the session was chaired by Chairman, Vice Chairman and other members of Doeguling Local Tibetan Assembly.
The resource persons, Deputy Speaker Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok and Parliamentarian Khenpo Sonam Tenphel intervened between the session to provide necessary suggestions to improve the proceedings of their Local Assembly.
This mock session witnessed 4 starred questions, 1 zero hour, 2 calling attention motion, 1 solidarity resolution, 1 annual report, etc. Participants expressed their appreciation towards Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile for organizing the workshop. They also urged the resource persons to organize similar workshops in future. Thus, the workshop on Strengthening of Democracy at grass root level to the Members of Doeguling Local Tibetan Assembly was successfully concluded today.
