Official Obituary Reference
It was on 15th of January 2018, when Dr. Nand Kishore Trikha, former President of National union of Journalist, passed away in AIIMS hospital after a prolonged illness. Born on 5th of Nov, 1935, he was 82 years old.
In 1958 when he was just 22 years old, he worked as the Indian journalist at Kathmandu, Nepal for 6 months. From 1963 to 1992, he worked as the Editor at many renowned news agencies over those 22 years and had written around 6500 articles in leading newspapers.
His interest in the issues of Tibet began in 1962 and when the National Convener of Core Group for Tibetan was first convened in 2002, he became the first National Convener on its very inception till 2015.
For the Tibetans, he had always been affable and especially someone who not only deeply revered but also shared special bond with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He is someone who has, enduring all the physical discomforts and pains, never missed a single meeting on Tibet.
Establishing his whole life on the principles of non-violence and truth, he shouldered, with all his sincerity, in supporting the Tibet’s cause and its issues, unflinchingly. His hard work, especially, helped in the creation of widened awareness amongst the general Indian public, amassing even more support for our cause. Even though he is no longer with us, our commitment for our cause with his flame of truth and justice is even sturdier and stronger.
To sum up, his was a figure of stalwart disposition that worked tirelessly for others his entire life, as not only recognized by both the Centre and the State of India but as also fortified by the conferment of numerous prestigious awards including Patrakarita Bhushan.
The demise of our trusted friend, the one who had always paid attention to and supported our cause, is very indeed saddening and therefore, the necessity to pass this obituary in his remembrance.
