Dharamsala: Chaired by Speaker Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, the sixth day of the sixth session of 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile commenced at 9:30 in the morning.

During the ‘Question Hour’, the first agenda for the day, Parliamentarian Mr. Lobsang Choejor posed the starred question to Home Kalon Mr. Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang, to which he gave the requisite answers. He also answered the supplementary questions raised by the parliamentarians.
The session then moved to continue with the remaining question-answer proceeding on 2017-18 reports of Department of Education in the House and the supplementary questions on the 2017-18 report of Department of Home.

Thereafter, following the third agenda of the day’s list of business, the précis 2017-18 report of the Department of Security was presented by Kalon Phagpa Tsering Labrang. Parliamentarian Mr. Karma Gelek then presented the questions and doubts as raised in the reviewed report on the same by the Standing Committee.

Parliamentarian Mr. Dhondup Tashi Tsaneytsang tabled the motion for debate on the aforementioned reports and Parliamentarian Mr. Karma Gelek supported the same.
During the debate and discussion round in the House, parliamentarians thanked both the central and state government of India as well as the Department of Security, CTA, for their unwavering and immaculate provision of safety and security measures for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
They also commended the concerned department of Central Tibetan Administration and Tibetan Reception Centre under its jurisdiction for the facilitation with requisite assistance and accordance of due reception to the former political prisoners and newly-arrived Tibetans from Tibet respectively as well as on the overall activities of the concerned department. They raised questions regarding Registration Certificate (R.C) and Identity Certificate (I.C) while also voicing their request to make His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s schedule less rigorous.
Kalon Phaga Tsering Labrang provided the requisite answers and clarification to each and every question raised by the parliamentarians, while also acknowledging the suggestion and requests made by them.
19 parliamentarians participated in the debate and discussion on the 2017-18 report of the aforementioned Department.

Subsequently, with the conclusion of debate and discussion over the 2017-18 report of Department of Security, Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay presented the précis 2017-18 report of Department of Information and International Relations and Parliamentarian Ven. Geshe Monlam Tharchin presented the questions and doubts rasied in the reviewed report on the same by the Standing Committee.
