
Dharamshala, 22 June 2026: Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile met with Mike Cramer and Radharani Thakuria of the Political Section at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi in the Speaker’s Chamber at the Parliamentary Secretariat on the morning of 22 June 2026.
During the meeting, the Speaker expressed gratitude to the U.S. government and people for their steadfast support of the Tibetan diaspora, highlighting USAID’s longstanding partnership with the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
Emphasizing the significance of the passage of the Resolve Tibet Act by the U.S. Congress, the Speaker extended her appreciation to President Trump for signing the legislation into law. She underscored the Act’s importance in countering China’s misinformation campaign on Tibet and described it as a model for other democratic nations around the world.
The Speaker also elaborated on the World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet (WPCT), organized by the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, and provided a brief overview of the 9th WPCT held in Tokyo, Japan. She highlighted the Action Plan, Declaration, and Resolution adopted during the convention.
Further, the Speaker emphasized the global significance of the Tibetan Plateau and the major rivers originating from Tibet, particularly their impact on downstream countries in South Asia. Noting Tibet’s strategic location, she also highlighted its importance in contributing to geopolitical stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Referring to the BRICS Summit being held in India, the Speaker remarked that innovation and development should be guided by morality and justice. She stressed that progress should help build societies founded on mutual respect and pluralism, creating space for diverse cultures and religions to thrive.
