Dharamsala : As per the designated schedule of Tibetan settlement official visitation by the 16th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Parliamentarians Mrs.Tsering Youdon and Ven Geshe Monlam Tharchin visit to meet the Tibetan students and people living in the cities of Chennai, Auroville, Puducherry as well as in the Tibetan settlements under the jurisdiction of the Dekyi Larsoe Tibetan settlement office, Karnataka from July 1 to July 19 concluded with their return to their respective destination at Hunsur on July 15 and Dharamsala on July 19 respectively.
On July 3, the parliamentarians were received by Mr. Choephel Thubten, Chief Representative of South Zone on their arrival at the Bangalore. They were also greeted with exuberance on their arrival by the local dignitaries and representatives during their respective visitations.

From July 5, as per their designated program, they visited Madras Christian College, Loyola College and Mentsekhang, Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute in Chennai. At Dekyi Larsoe Tibetan settlement, Bylakuppe, Karnataka, they paid their reverence to the temples and monasteries there, visited the Shedrup Jangchupling Incense factory, schools, Tibetan health clinics as well as the offices of the Tibetan settlement officer, Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement, Cooperative society etc. They also inspected the ongoing housing construction project for the CTA retired officials and the newly-arrived Tibetans from Tibet. The Tibetans living in Auroville and Puducherry were especially delighted for the short period of congregation at the Pavilion of Tibetan Culture, Auroville.
Their visit to Chennai was in particular highlighted by the opportunity to thank Rev. Dr. M. Arockiasamy Xavier, S.J., the Principal of Loyola College, Prof.R.Sridhar, Head of the Department of Political Science and Administrator of the International Students Admission Section, Madras Christian College and his colleagues for the innumerable admission of the Tibetan students in their respective colleges. This meeting was made possible with the help of Mrs. Asha Reddy, a staunch supporter of Tibet and Prof. James Sundarraj, former English professor at Loyola College and a scholar on the Tibet issue. They discussed on the academic achievements and the slights of the Tibetan students pursuing further studies and solicited for the continuation of such amenity in the future.

At the same city, the two parliamentarians celebrated the 82nd birthday of His holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with great jubilation. Parliamentarian Ven.Geshe Monlam Tharchin read out the speech by Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and proffered mementoes to Mrs. Asha Reddy and M.R.Hubert, member of the Friends of Tibet, for their relentless support.
Overall, this program of 19 days involved a meeting with the leaders of the various organizations prevailing in the settlement and 4 public addresses by the two parliamentarians. At the congregation of students and general Tibetan people, they elucidated the audience regarding the accomplishments of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, critical situations in Tibet and its political scenario on the international platform, policy of Central Tibetan Administration, evolution of Tibetan democracy, the procedure of Tibetan parliamentary session and the functions of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. They also engaged in question-answer session with the students and general public.

Respectively the two parliamentarians not only inquired about the conditions of the destitute but also noted the grievances of the students and the general public of the settlements, monasteries and colleges.
This program of 19 days was, thus, concluded successfully.
The grievances as per chronicled by the two parliamentarians will be forwarded to the associative departments of the Central Tibetan Administration under the Cabinet for immediate grievances redressal through the standing committee of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
